Color Psychology: Decorating With Pink

What is Pink?
“Pink is a combination of the color red and white, a hue that can be described as a tint. It can range from berry (blue-based) pinks to salmon (orange-based) pinks.” Source: Color Matters
Since Pink is a lighter shade of red (that also includes red-violet & red-orange}, it combines the qualities of red and white. The more red, the brighter the pink, the more energetic the color.
Color schemes with Pink
So, how can we create harmonious color schemes with ………….
We need our handy dandy……Color Wheel
By examining the color wheel, we can derive the following color schemes with Pink. Please note that following the 60-30-10 rule will help you create a balanced color scheme.
Monochromatic Color Schemes
[A color scheme that consists of different values of one color.]
Analogous Color Schemes
[A color scheme that consists of colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. You can select 2 or 3 hues in this scheme].
Example: Pink & Blue
Complementary Color Schemes
[A color scheme that consists of colors that are directly opposite each other on the color wheel].
Example: Pink & Yellow-Green 
Split Complementary Color Schemes
[A color scheme that consists of a particular color and the two colors on each side of its complementary on the color wheel].
Example: Pink & Orange & Blue-Green
Triadic Color Schemes
[A color scheme that consists of 3 colors that are evenly spaced on the color wheel. Choose one dominant color and the other two as accents.]
Example: Pink &Yellow-Orange & Blue-Green
Tetrad Color Scheme
[A color scheme that consists of 4 colors that form a rectangle or square on a color wheel.]
Example: Blue-Green & Yellow-Green & Red -Violet & Red-Orange
Did you notice that I did not share any pink bedrooms? That was intentional. We tend to associate pink with little girls bedrooms so I wanted to inspire you to use this youthful, and fun color throughout your home.
