My Suggestion For A Functional Home Office

Olioboard, the free online mood board creator, offers sponsored contests as well as suggested challenges from members of the Olioboard community. One of the suggested contests that is currently running is a challenge to design a functional modern style home office.

This is what I came up with….

The home office is becoming a must in today’s homes since more people are opting to work from home. I envisioned this office as part of a family room where a person can work at their desk and still be part of the action. The bookshelves, filing cabinet and storage ottoman turn this space into an organized and functional office. I chose a complementary color scheme of yellow and blue to energize the mood and encourage productivity.

Now, If you are a mom or dad with small children, I know what you must be thinking; this design would not work in MY home.  I envisioned a couple’s home when I designed that room. But you know, if you have an extra room in your home that you can use as the office, then this would be a great retreat for you. You can even use it to entertain your friends or meet with clients. I have 4 children of my own and I would love to have a simple office space that I can call my own.
